The boys and I have been coping well with van life. There are a few glitches along the way, like our running water stopped running, possibly due to frost damage to pipes from the night that was technically 3°C but "feels like -3°C".
It's also difficult to heat the place with our 500W heater, which runs off a power bank for an hour, than needs to be recharged from a genny for an hour and runs for another hour (which we usually save for the morning). But it all means we get three hours of heat from running the genny for one. It all got better though and we now find 13°C quite balmy.
One a sunny day we also manage to charge from solar but the sunny days are still too few and far between. We've used the shower once before the water went belly up but it wasn't great, so we're starting to look into improving our experience, but overall, it's been very cool, despite the constant pressure to prepare 5 hot water bottles for the night.
I personally really enjoy feeling like I'm constantly on a camping holiday and even though I feel a little bad (for others' sake) about the campfire smell I don't seem to be able to shake, I actually quite like campfire smell.
Speaking of cups of coffee, or noodles, or hot water bottles, check out a silly video I made for our current hot water setup. I am becoming a devil with the KellyKettle and this bad boy got a fair bit of use already.
